Join Great River Greening for the first public restoration event at John Peter Hoffman WMA! John Peter Hoffman WMA, located in Red Wing, is made up of a mix of northern hardwood forest, shrub-carr wetlands, and agricultural fields. Bluff prairies are found on the west-facing slopes and home to Spring Creek, a designated trout stream, which flows through the property. Volunteers will plant seeds including oaks and native grasses that will provide habitat for wildlife including turkeys, squirrels, red-shouldered hawks, warblers, and red-headed woodpeckers. Pre-registration is required.
Light snacks and water will be provided, but please bring and fill your own reusable water bottle to reduce waste.
