Community Navigator -
1-month commitment, ~2 hours/week
Moving to a new city, state, or country can be an exciting and challenging transition for anyone who experiences it. In particular, the experience of a refugee will always include the adjustment to a new way of life, growing awareness of cultural and societal differences in their new home, and often the struggle to learn a new language.
When a refugee arrives in Mankato, our heart is to provide networks of support to empower their integration into the community. Community Navigators help their new neighbor navigate locations that will meet their basic needs, practice communication skills, support their participation in community groups and events. Community Navigators will benefit by making a new friend, learning about another culture, and seeing the Mankato community through the lens of another.
