Who We Are
We are the regions no-kill animal shelter. BENCHS has been in operation since 1969. Our mission is to find loving forever homes for homeless cats and dogs, use spay/neuter programs to reduce the number of unwanted pets, and reunite lost/found animals with their owners
What We Do
We intake, by appointment, abandoned cats and dogs. We complete a full medical protocol before making them available for adoption, using a online application process. We provide a food share program for people that would otherwise have to surrender their pet due to a life event. BENCHS is an available resource to help strategize solutions on many pet situations including surrendering your pet. First step in adoption and surrender is to fill out forms found on our website. Open cat adoption hours, with an approved app, 3-7 Thursday-Friday and 2-6 on Saturday. Dog adoptions, with an approved application, by appointment only. BENCHS is not the city impound but we do support the impounds by taking in the animals after the 5 day stray hold. BENCHS cannot perform any medical procedures for owned pets.
