What We Do

New American Families

YWCA recognizes that families settling in the United States can experience barriers as they work to navigate a new country with different systems and rules; and these obstacles can impact health and education for the entire family.

The New American Families program works to eliminate these barriers using the Parents as Teachers curriculum.

Our culturally specific and multilingual team currently serves Latinx, Somali, and some additional East African communities. The result, thriving families and healthy, safe children who are ready to learn.

Build Confidence in Girls

Our Youth Programs are designed to inspire girls in the Greater Mankato area to be joyful, healthy, and confident, learn to value themselves, take risks, and discover their inherent strengths.

Here are some of the programs we offer for youth in our community:

  • Handball 2 University (grades 6-12)
  • GEARS (grades 6-8)
  • Girls Inc. Camps (grades K-12)
  • and more!

Connect Women

Our Women’s Leadership Programming offers a 9-month leadership program for women that focuses on personal and professional growth specific to cultivating the capacity of women leaders. Additionally, we plan a 2-day leadership conference held each year, which focuses on current and relevant topics important to women.
