Description

Help us build a biodiverse and resilient urban tree canopy! Volunteers will plant large-stock trees into pre-dug holes; this work will include loosening root balls, filling holes with soil, watering, and spreading mulch around newly planted trees. These trees will replace trees lost to emerald ash borer infestation. They will cool and clean the air, provide shade, and beautify the community.

This event is part of the Cooling Minnesota Communities program – an initiative working to mitigate extreme heat, deepen climate resiliency, and increase access to urban tree canopies.

  • No previous knowledge or experience is necessary!
  • We'll provide the tools and training.
  • Dress for the weather and get ready to get a little messy.
  • The trees are roughly 20-30lb and 5-7ft tall.
  • There will be light snacks and extra water available during the event - Bring your own reusable water bottle if you have one!

REGISTRATION:
Once you have registered through GivePulse, organizers from Great River Greening will approve your registration and you will receive confirmation. You will continue to receive event reminders as the event nears. If you have further questions, please contact volunteer@greatrivergreening.org

DAY OF: When you arrive at the site, go directly to the registration table and check-in. Restoration volunteers need to arrive a few minutes early to park, and check in to our registration table. You will be asked to fill out a nametag and a liability/photo release form (if you have not done so already) and will be given work gloves and assigned to a work unit.

If you are a minor registering yourself, you will need to provide an email address in the "Linked Survey" box so we can send the Youth Liability Waiver to your parent or guardian. If you are an adult bringing a minor, you can add them as an attendee and simply check the "Youth Waiver" box upon registering. If you are an adult registering yourself and another adult, you will need to enter their unique email address to the Attendee registration, so they can confirm their registration and sign a waiver.
