Join us to deliver books to local students as part of Greater Mankato Area United Way's 4th-Grade Book Project!
This initiative is made possible through a partnership between the Olseth Family Foundation and Greater Mankato Area United Way. Since 2017, we have provided a free Shel Silverstein poetry book to fourth-graders in both public and private schools in Blue Earth, Le Sueur, Nicollet and Waseca counties to provide access to books and celebrate literacy.
This year, we are distributing more than 1,600 books to all fourth-grade students in the four-county region.
We are seeking assistance from volunteers to help with some of our book deliveries. This is a fun opportunity to provide books to local students!
Throughout May, we will deliver books to schools in Blue Earth, Le Sueur, Nicollet, and Waseca counties. We need volunteers to pick up their school's books at United Way before delivering to the school. A United Way staff member or Lead Volunteer will give a short presentation, then all volunteers will distribute the books to students and take a group photo.
Stay tuned for more volunteer openings as we confirm schedules with other schools!
Informational sessions will be held ahead of time via Zoom for you to learn more about your role.
