Unified Flag Football Special Olympics Volunteer Coaches

Looking for a great volunteer experience? As a Special Olympics Volunteer with LEEP you'll work closely with our Special Olympics Coordinator and LEEP Staff members to ensure our athletes are successful in each sport offered.

Volunteer Coach Responsibilities:

  • Coaching a team or individual
  • Organizing and facilitating practice
  • Running drills
  • Fostering healthy competition and sportsmanship

  • Practices will be held twice each week on Thursdays from 4:30-5:30pm starting August 21-October 26, 2014.
  • Practice will be held at Erlandson Park (East Main St./Victory Dr.)
  • Coaches must attend every practice
  • There will be at least 1 mandatory weekend tournament. Coaches must attend any and all tournaments with their team.
  • LEEP will provide transportation to tournaments; however, all volunteer coaches must have reliable transportation to and from practices, trainings, and other volunteer sessions.

This is a Unified Sport! What does that mean?  Unified sports are defined by Special Olympics as, “Unified Sports® combine athletes with and without disabilities (Unified Partner) on the same team. By participating together, athletes and Unified Partners improve their physical fitness, sharpen their skills, challenge the competition and overcome prejudices about intellectual disabilities.”
