VINE Faith In Action

Who We Are

VINE Faith in Action was established in February of 1995, as an interfaith volunteer caregiving organization serving older adults, people with disabilities and individuals and families encountering difficult life situations. In 2002, VINE, Volunteer Interfaith Network Effort, officially changed its name to VINE Faith in Action to further align itself to the national caregiving movement.

What We Do


VINE Faith in Action promotes quality of life and a culture of caring, sustained by volunteerism, community engagement and support for neighbors in need. VINE serves people who live in their own homes or apartments. VINE assists people who have long-term health needs maintain their independence for as long as possible by providing non-medical assistance with daily activities. Volunteers can help by shopping for groceries, providing rides to medical appointments, cooking meals, running errands and sharing friendship through in-person and phone visits. They provide respite care and help with indoor and outdoor chores.  Our core programs include:

  • Nursing Home/Hospital Transition
  • Hot Meals on Wheels
  • Chores
  • Home Modifications
  • Transportation
  • Medical Equipment Lending Closet
  • Support for Caregivers - in home respite, social model respite programs, caregiver consulting, and support and education


The Summit Center, an adult community center under VINE's management, engages adults in mid life and beyond.  There are opportunities to play cards, line dance with the Summit Stompers, harmonize with the Summit Singers or VINE Garage Band, play table tennis and pool, go on local and out of town trips (offered in collaboration with Community Education), attend lectures and special programs, participate in book clubs, etc.  The Summit Center also hosts a variety of different exercise classes; Tai Chi, water exercise, balance and mobility, etc. to help keep people physically healthy. 


The VINE Home Thrift Store provides a variety of household goods including, furniture, kitchen and bathroom items, books, artwork, lighting, etc. all at reasonable prices.  All the proceeds from the store go to support VINE's programs and services.
